There are five hydrants and 10 fire hoses along the length of the installation. There are hoses every 100 m inside the tunnel, covering the entire length of the tunnel.
There is a pump system: a diesel jockey pump and an electric pump.
There are two 30 m3 tanks at the west end (Grau side). These feed a pipe that is permanently loaded along the tunnel. To prevent the water from freezing, a programme is in place which, if the temperature drops below +2ºC, the east end (Pas side) is opened by an electrovalve, forcing the water to circulate. Once the purge is complete, the system closes so that the pipe can be refilled with water at a higher temperature.
